Today we made it into Illinois and passed through Chicago! We walked past Soldier Field, site of the first Special Olympics Games in 1968! From there, we headed to Lombard and Rolling Meadows – both just outside of Chicago – where we passed by the Gallagher Head Office (proud supporter of Special Olympics) and the Special Olympics Illinois Head Office respectively. Walking further north, we stopped for the day after walking 476.25 km in Madison, Wisconsin. Madison is home to the Special Olympics Wisconsin head office, and is situated on what is called an isthmus (a narrow piece of land connected two larger areas across water) and land surrounding four different lakes.
